We accept applications for entry into 1729 Maths School in Year 7 and Year 9. Admissions for both year groups follow a similar process.
Applications for September 2027 entry will open next year. If you would like your child to be considered for September 2026 entry, please email admissions@1729mathsschool.org.uk
Travel grants will be available at all stages of the process to ensure that all invited students and their parents can attend.

Tours of the school and online Q&A sessions, which give you the opportunity to meet our Founding Head, hear more about the curriculum and ask any questions about your child's specific needs.
Applications for 2027 entry will open in 2026. If you would like your child to be considered for September 2026 entry, please email admissions@1729mathsschool.org.uk
We do not charge a registration or application fee for students currently residing in the UK.
1729 has a generous bursary fund. Please indicate if you are interested in hearing more about it on your application form and we will share details about the process of applying.
Your child will take a short, computer-based assessment of their English, maths, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills. The assessment will be administered by Quest, which is part of Atom Learning.
We will offer a range of dates to take this test at Mill Hill School. If you are unable to travel, we will work with you and your child’s school to enable the test to be taken remotely at your child’s school.
Successful applicants will be invited to take a written maths assessment at Mill Hill School on 29 November 2025.
The maths assessment does not test knowledge beyond the National Curriculum, rather it focuses on problem solving and mathematical exploration. The best way to prepare for this paper is for your child to spend time developing confidence with problem solving activities.
After seeking your permission, we will also write to your child’s current school to request a reference and copies of recent school reports.
Your child will attend two oral assessment days at Mill Hill during January and early-February. They will take part in a range of individual and group activities, focused on mathematical reasoning and problem solving.
Following our assessment, parents of successful applicants will receive school offers by email. Full and partial bursary awards will be communicated to parents of successful applicants, as well as Ramanujan Scholarship awards.
We will welcome all offer-holding families to join us at 1729 Maths School for a fun-filled and community-focused day. Offer holders will spend time with their future classmates at Belmont Prep (Year 7) and Mill Hill School (Year 9). Families that are considering boarding will also be able to experience life in a boarding house.
We kindly request that offers are accepted by 4 March 2026. A deposit will be payable on acceptance although this will be waived/reduced for students offered full/partial bursaries.
