Admissions Process and Key Dates

We accept applications for entry into 1729 Maths School in Year 7 and Year 9. Admissions for both year groups follow a similar process. Applications for September 2027 entry will open on Tuesday 1 September 2026. If you would like to be informed when the application form opens, please Register your interest

Year-round: School Visits and Information Sessions

Tours of the school and join online Q&A sessions, which give you the opportunity to meet our Founding Head, hear more about the curriculum and ask any questions about your child's specific needs.

Tuesday 1 September 2026: Applications Open

Applications for September 2027 entry will open on Tuesday 1 September 2026.

We do not charge a registration or application fee for students currently residing in the UK. ‍

1729 has a generous bursary fund. Please indicate if you are interested in hearing more about it on your application form and we will share details about the process of applying.

Friday 30 October 2026: Applications Close

Saturday 7 and 14 November 2026: Stage 1 - Initial Computer-based Assessment

Your child will take a short, computer-based assessment of their English, maths, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills. The assessment will be administered by Quest, which is part of Atom Learning.

Saturday 5 December 2026: Stage 2 - Maths Assessment at Mill Hill

Successful applicants will be invited to take a written maths assessment at Mill Hill School on Saturday 5 December 2026.

The maths assessment does not test knowledge beyond the National Curriculum, rather it focuses on problem solving and mathematical exploration. The best way to prepare for this paper is for your child to spend time developing confidence with problem solving activities.

We will also write to your child’s current school to request a reference and copies of recent school reports.

Friday 11 December 2026: Bursary Application Deadline

January 2027: Stage 3 - Oral Assessment Days

Your child will attend two oral assessment days at Mill Hill in January:

Year 7 entry: 18, 19 and 27 January 2027

Year 9 entry: 20, 25 and 26 January 2027

They will take part in a range of individual and group activities, focused on mathematical reasoning and problem solving.

Friday 12 February 2027: Offers and Bursary Awards Emailed

Following our assessment, parents of successful applicants will receive school offers by email. Full and partial bursary awards will be communicated to parents of successful applicants, as well as Ramanujan Scholarship awards.

Thursday 25 February 2027: Offer Holders Event

We will welcome all offer-holding families to join us at 1729 Maths School for a fun-filled and community-focused day. Offer holders will spend time with their future classmates at Belmont Prep (Year 7) and Mill Hill School (Year 9). Families that are considering boarding will also be able to experience life in a boarding house.

Wednesday 3 March 2027: Offer Acceptance Deadline

We kindly request that offers are accepted by Wednesday 3 March 2027. A deposit will be payable on acceptance although this will be waived/reduced for students offered full/partial bursaries.
